Martin Lewis has offered advice for people hit by a hike in their BT bills.
BT, EE and Plusnet customers will see prices rising by up to 9.3% from the end of March.
The changes will affect most broadband, home phone, mobile and TV customers - but the impact will vary depending on which brand and product you have and when you signed up.
Speaking on his ITV money show, Martin said: "The first thing to say is unlike the Virgin Media price hike..whereas you could leave your contract penalty free once you got the letter you can't do that with any of those because this price hike was already a part of the contract.
"But millions of you are either at the end of your contract or out of contract, in which case go and find the cheapest other supplier and use that as an opportunity to haggle and to try and bring your price down.
"It's worth noting that the special home essentials tariff on BT won't be rising."
The price surge is because the firms use a calculation of December's CPI - which was 5.4% - + 3.9 percentage points to determine rises.
