Martin Lewis apologised for "breaking the rules" as he grilled the Health Secretary about the cost of living.
The MoneySavingExpert star was on ITV's Good Morning Britain today with Susanna Reid, with the pair discussing the new booster jab campaign and the cost of living crisis with Sajid Javid.
At the end of the chat, Martin apologised as he "took his presenting hat off" and "put his campaigning hat on" as he quizzed the MP on how people who rely on electricity to use their mobility or health aids - such as an oxygen machine or an electric wheelchair - would be able to cope as the cost of living soars.
Martin quizzed the Health Secretary, before adding: "You don't have to give me an answer, it's not a question."
But the MP interrupted to insist he did want to give an answer. "Yes," he said, "It's a very straightforward yes. Absolutely, those are some of the most important people in our society and they're exactly the kind of people we should do everything we can to support including from our department and the NHS."
As it switched back to the studio, Martin added: "Thank you, and forgive me if I just broke the rules there."
"You are forgiven by the way," Susanna quickly chimed in, "You're allowed to have an opinion."
Martin breathed a sigh of relief as he added: "It was a campaigning call. I hope I didn't break some broadcasting regulations by doing that and stepping over the line. But I do think it was important."
Susanna explained how important the topic was, as she revealed the show had been inundated with messages from people in similar situations who fear how they will cope as energy prices rise.
Earlier in the show, Martin admitted it was the worst cost of living crisis he'd seen in the past two decades.
"Where we are now, we are in the worst position I have seen since I started being the Money Saving Expert back in 2000 for people's pockets. We have to be very careful not to lay that all at the door of Ukraine because it isn't all the fault of Ukraine - much of it was in place before we got here," he said.
"And with energy bills looking to rise £1300 in a year, which is absolutely what is nailing this more than anything else, people will need help or they will have to choose between starving or freezing."
