The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has issued a warning to motorists regarding their licence.
Drivers have been told to ensure their licence has not expired. According to new data, approximately two million people across the UK currently have an expired licence without realising.
Additionally, MoneySavingExpert cofounder Martin Lewis has reported that photocard licences that are no longer could land you with a fine of as much as £1,000.

As reported by Birmingham Live, the financial expert stated: "Photo driving licences usually expire after 10 years... If you don't renew, you ultimately risk being fined."
He added: "The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) says a whopping two million or so are out of date."
According to the DVLA, licences must be renewed every 10 years. The agency should send you a reminder in the post that you need to renew your licence.
However, thousands of drivers either forget to renew their licence or never receive a letter. As a result, they could be hit with the £1,000 fine.
Motorists are able to renew their licence either online or through through the post. After the renewal, a new licence will be issued that is valid from the date of the approval — not the expiry date on the previous licence.
The price to renew a licence online is £14, while it costs £17 to do through the post. Additionally, those who do it at the Post Office will need to pay an extra £4.50 fee to take the photo and post the application.
Once motorists are 70 years old, they are required to renew their licence once every three years, which is free to do. If a motorist's licence has already expired, they will not be fined for a late renewal, but the DVLA has said that they should not drive until it has received the completed renewal application.
