Martin Keown tells Mikel Arteta his biggest issue at Arsenal in Champions League chase

With Manchester United and Tottenham both dropping points this week, Arsenal have managed to take the opportunity to capitalise on their rivals' poor form with both hands.

Mikel Arteta's men took all three points on Thursday night against Bruno Lage's Wolves at Molineux, in a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Gabriel Martinelli's controversial second-half sending off meant that the Gunners had to show a great amount of resilience and determination to preserve their clean sheet and they did exactly that, with Arteta switching the formation to a 5-3-1 low block, which ensured that the amount of chances the home side could produce was minimised.

From a defensive perspective, Arsenal have been nothing short of brilliant, with centre-backs Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes forming an excellent partnership at the heart of the defence whilst goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been a rock in between the sticks.

In terms of offensively, the improvements made are clearly apparent, with Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka developing a strong connection through the right-hand side.

But Arsenal legend Martin Keown is worried about whether the Gunners have enough firepower up top going into the business end of the season.

“It does worry me that with Aubameyang, when he lost the captaincy I was fearful that we would lose the player as well," Keown said on the Seaman Says Podcast.

"If you look at the last few games, we didn’t score against Burnley, we didn’t score against Forest, the two games in the League Cup against Liverpool, we didn’t score in those either.

"There’s an issue right now in trying to score goals. I assume that he’s spending the time on the training ground trying to solve that."

Essentially, there is huge emphasis on both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah to chip in with goals from now until the end of the season but given the fact that neither have been able to demonstrate consistency on this front, it's likely that the wide players will have to continue to take massive responsibility in the team's final third output.
