Martin Keown reacts to Arsenal moment against Aston Villa win that had fans raving

Aaron Ramsdale was ruled out of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday but he still travelled with the squad to Villa Park to support replacement goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

He will not join up with the Three Lions squad for next week’s friendlies due to a sore oblique muscle and will be out for a number of weeks. But nevertheless, the England international was seen joyfully congratulating Leno post-match after the German pulled off a number of points-saving stops during the game.

His actions received plaudits from many onlookers, including that from Martin Keown who was doing punditry for BT Sport for the match. The former Invincible Gunners defender paid testament to the positive relationship between the shot stoppers at the club.

Referring to the pictures of Ramsdale congratulating Leno, he said: "Ramsdale today who couldn’t make it and Leno, who doesn’t really play often, but he concentrated right to the end and made a good save.

"I like to see that bond. When Leno gets a chance Ramsdale shares it with him, it's great to see."

Arsenal fans on social media also shared their praise for the 23-year-old’s reaction after the final whistle, with many tweeting their adulation…

@MutatinaPeter4: An injured player travelling with the team… a joy to have you Ramsdale.

@Jake_Rusby: Such a good vibe at the club at the moment and there seems to be a great connection between the players themselves and between them and the fans. This pic of the two keepers summed it up for me.

@AFC_BucketHat: Absolutely love that @AaronRamsdale98 was there with the boys today! Shows how close the team are!

@babyface2000ad: Ramsdale hugging Leno after the Villa match, things we love to see.

@ziliyax: Aaron Ramsdale is class act. Not only did he travel with the Arsenal team, he joined the celebration, giving Bernd Leno a big hug at full-time.

@Arsenal49_FC: Leno and Ramsdale hugging and laughing, you love to see it.

It has been Leno’s first Premier League start since August’s 5-0 loss to Manchester City.
