Former Arsenal, Everton and England defender Martin Keown has claimed it would have been a 'travesty' if Liverpool head beaten Manchester City to the Premier League title.
The final day of the season began with City sitting one point clear at the top of the Reds, who eventually did their job by winning 3-1 at home to Wolves, who took an early lead through Pedro Neto before Sadio Mane equalised to make it all-square at the break.
Over in Manchester, Pep Guardiola's side were 1-0 down at half-time to Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa, and their task got even harder when former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho double the lead.

But Raheem Sterling, another Reds old boy, set up fellow substitute Ilkay Gundogan to pull one goal back - and four minutes later City, incredibly, were ahead.
Rordri drew them level before Gundogan capped off a manic period to make it 3-2, meaning goals from Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson back at Anfield were not enough to see Liverpool pip their rivals to the title.
The Premier League is the only silverware City will lift this season, in contrast to the Reds, who have won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup and later this week contest the Champions League final.
And pundit Keown reacted by saying that it wouldn't have been right for the blue half of Manchester to go trophyless.
“To think of Man City not winning a trophy it would have been a travesty," Keown said to BBC Sport.
“It is perfection in their performances and it has to be with Liverpool chasing them down. Maybe this will encourage Pep to sign a new deal and take on the challenge that is Liverpool. They just keep pushing towards brilliance.”
