Martin Dubravka agrees move in principle to Manchester United after four years with Newcastle United

Newcastle United are on the brink of allowing Martin Dubravka to leave the club on loan with a deal agreed in principle with Manchester United.

Dubravka requested a move officially last week after falling down the pecking order at United. The move to the Red Devils could result in a £5million permanent deal.

Dubravka won't be number one at Man United but there will be plenty of first-team opportunities despite playing second fiddle to David De Gea. Man United will play Dubravka in the League Cup and Europa League in the first half of the campaign.

The Slovakia international can expect games in Europe against Sheriff Tiraspol, Omonia Nicosia and Real Sociedad. While Man United also have a high octane League Cup tie at Aston Villa to get their teeth into in November.

Dubravka is understood to have explained his situation to team-mates and will head to Manchester for a medical on Tuesday according to sources at Old Trafford. Dubravka had spoken to Chronicle Live about his future earlier this month.

He said then: "I have ambitions to play obviously - and I am not going to hide that one, it's the same for everyone. The goalkeeper position is special and unique, only one can be on the pitch."
