Martin Compston has said he will 'miss' Nicola Sturgeon after it was announced the Scottish First Minister will resign.
Taking to Twitter, he called her "by far the most capable politician in the UK of the last decade" adding that she "ran rings round umpteen opposition leaders and prime ministers."
Touching on a highly debate topic, the actor added that the independence movement is now in a "far stronger position" than when she first started, concluding that she will be "sorely missed".

News of her resignation spread across the world fast with many people sharing their thoughts on her latest move.
This included Glasgow locals and celebrities alike with Lorraine Kelly posting a picture of the pair telling her followers on Instagram that regardless of their political views, there will be "big shoes to fill."
Adding to the reaction of yesterday's news was Glasgow's Janey Godley who posted a voiceover of the moment the politician resigned with her joking instead of 'Cruising with Jane McDonald', with her spare time the politician will now do 'Caravanning with Nicola Sturgeon'.
In response to the video, the FM tweeted: "Thanks to Frank for his door service over the years…and to the wonderful @JaneyGodley for always making me laugh, even in the toughest times."
Despite confirming she will step down as First Minister of Scotland, the leader of the Scottish National Party has said she will remain the MSP for her Glasgow Southside constituency.
She has been in the position for more than eight years having taking over from Alex Salmond in November 2014 following the independence referendum.
Ms Sturgeon also confirmed she will remain as First Minister and SNP leader until her successor is chosen.
