Martin Compston shares Line of Duty WhatsApp group name for AC-12 chat

Scottish actor Martin Compston has shared the classic name that Line of Duty co-star Vicky McClure came up with for their WhatsApp group chat.

During an interview with Roman Kemp and Sian Welby on the Capital Breakfast Show, the ITV star revealed the comical name live on air, the Scottish Sun reports.

Roman quizzed the Scottish actor about all things Line of Duty, and commented on some of the rumours circulating online.

Roman said: "Please tell me your WhatsApp group with the Line of Duty people is called ‘bent coppers’.”

Martin laughed and said: "No it’s called…Vicky [McClure] called it ‘shalamandro’.”

“Vicky just makes up words. Vicky’s hilarious because she’s almost funny.

“She comes up with these stupid words. She’s the kind of person she’ll be telling you a joke and she’ll start laughing before she tells the punchline.

“She starts making up words and finds it utterly hilarious and because she starts laughing, you start laughing.

“So that’s what it’s called, after her making up random words.”

The BBC show has become a cult British favourite, and earlier Glasgow Live reported that a Line of Duty event hosted by Martin in Scotland sold out almost immediately.

The event called An Audience with AC-12, held in in Port Glasgow Town Hall on March 19, will see Martin interviewed live alongside Line of Duty co-stars Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar.

Tickets for the one-off event sold out in less than a minute after going no sale at 6PM.

The proceeds from all sales will go to Ardgowan Hospice.

Martin took to Twitter with a classic AC-12 line to express his gratitude, writing: "Jesus Mary Joseph and the wee donkey that sold out in less than a minute.

"Absolutely beaming thank you so much for the support and apologies to anyone who missed out.

"We’re gonna look into streaming it for those reaching out.

"Thanks again gonna be some night!"
