Martin Compston shares Clydeside snap and says 'nowhere you'd rather be'

Scottish actor Martin Compston was spotted taking in the beautiful view of the River Clyde on the outskirts of the Mar Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort near the Erskine Bridge.

Writing on his personal Instagram account, Martin posted a picturesque snap of himself leaning on the hood of an Audi as he takes in the view near to the Erskine Bridge.

Martin wrote: "Days like today nowhere you’d rather be. thanks as ever for the wheels @audiuk @tonyameli"

The ITV star was flooded with comments sharing their opinions on his landscape views, with one comment reading: "Hop over to Mull mate and come and have a cuppa! Maybe not in that beaut though... potholes and single track."

Another said: "Such a beautiful country!"

And a third wrote: "Nowhere better when the sun’s shining! Nice wee shot of the Erskine bridge in the background there."

Fellow Scottish icon Greg McHugh got in on the act too, as the Gary the Tank Commander persona joked: "MATE! I’M IN THE BOOT!!! LET ME OUT!!!"

Martin was recently in the news after ITV drama Vigil starring the actor alongside Suranne Jones was nominated for a BAFTA for best Drama series in 2021.

Vigil, which was BBC's most-watched drama series for three years, has been nominated alongside other shows In My Skin, Unforgotten and Manhunt: The Night Stalker at this years BAFTAs.

The Scottish based series, which 'gets darker the deeper you go', was based around a murder on a Trident nuclear submarine where Silva had to investigate what had happened to Burke, who we all know was played by Greenock's finest, Martin Compston.

The show raked in 13.4 million audience members on its first episode, and became the second most-watched drama series ever, just behind Line of Duty, which also stars our favourite Scottish actor Martin.

You can tune into the BAFTAs to see if Martin bags another group award on Sunday, May 8 on BBC One.
