Martin Boyle addresses Hibs to A-League speculation

Martin Boyle has lifted the lid on speculation linking him with a move to the A-League.

The Hibernian forward, 31, insists he would love to make the switch Down Under at one point in his career.

However, the Australia international is still unsure over when exactly that will be.

He's contracted at Easter Road for another season, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2025.

Boyle has been open about his desire to try out the A-League in the past, and he's now reaffirmed those sentiments.

"Obviously I'll get this game out of the way," he told 10 News First Perth. "Then I'll head back to my own club.

"It's probably cliche, but I'm still under contract. There's been a lot of speculation - there always is at this time of year.

"So, like I say, I'm still under contract and as far as it stands, I'll be at Hibernian and if anything changes, it changes."

Elaborating on potentially moving to Australia: "I've always said it, yeah, I said it a few years ago and it's been doing the rounds again.

"Obviously, it's an aim of mine to play in the A-League for sure. When that will happen, I'm not really sure, so we'll just see what the future holds."

Boyle previously moved from Hibs to Saudi Arabia but lasted only a year before returning to Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, former Scotland and Liverpool defender Alan Hansen is 'seriously ill in hospital', it has been confirmed.

Liverpool stated that they are in contact with Hansen's family and that their best wishes are with their former player and his loved ones.

A statement from the Premier League side reads: "The thoughts and support of everyone at Liverpool FC are with our legendary former captain Alan Hansen, who is currently seriously ill in hospital.

"The club is currently in contact with Alan's family to provide our support at this difficult time, and our thoughts, wishes and hopes are with Alan and all of the Hansen family."
