There is something about Easter that feels more whimsical and dreamlike than any other holiday, and our decor often reflects this.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Martha Stewart understands this brief perfectly. In true Martha style, she set the standard for Easter decorating ideas, not only this year, but all the way back in 2012. More than a decade later, her arrangements are just as impressive – except now, it's even easier to follow her example.
In the archival footage, Martha takes you around a room dressed in flowers and animal motifs ahead of the holiday. First, she showcases her orchid-filled terrariums, which create the perfect Easter table centerpiece.
'When decorating for Easter, I always like to bring elements from nature inside. In this terrarium, I planted some little Phalaenopsis orchids, and I just put some wonderful cushioned moss around the bottom. This goes right on our table,' she says.
It wouldn't be Easter without fresh flowers, and Martha's choices are utterly classic.
'For Easter, I always like to make beautiful flower arrangements in bright spring colors. These hellebores, the green viburnum, some wonderful anemones, tulips, of course,' she comments.
'On our sideboard is more wonderful green moss just mounded beautifully in these old white pottery bowls, foil eggs on top, and these German papier mache bunnies. I filled the baskets with different kinds of flowers, including leucodendron, andromeda, and wax flowers. It's a nice way to display a collection.'
Lastly, Martha achieves what seems impossible: she makes animal statues chic. 'I have lots of rabbits over here in my hutch. Don't they complement my ironstone china so nicely? There are glass rabbits, which come in all shapes and sizes. There are pottery rabbits. You can find these old ones in consignment shops and antique shops, and you can find new ones in many stores now. We always have rabbits at Easter with eggs. Now, I don't think rabbits lay eggs, do you?'
