This is a good sign: all-star New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore returned to practice Monday, with head coach Dennis Allen acknowledging that he participated on a limited basis.
We’ll get a better idea of Lattimore’s outlook when the first Week 1 injury report is released on Wednesday. He’s been on the mend since suffering a knee injury in joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers several weeks ago, and the Saints have been careful to not rush him back before he’s ready.
Buy Saints TicketsLattimore was limited to just seven games last season while gutting out a couple of internal injuries after a nasty collision early on. He’s a critically important player in the secondary as the Saints’ top defensive back. Easing him back into practice before Sunday’s kickoff with the Tennessee Titans is smart.
He’ll have his hands full with DeAndre Hopkins, Tennessee’s top offseason acquisition. Lattimore and Hopkins have had some intense battles over the years and now we’re set up for the next chapter in their rivalry.
