Married at First Sight star selling her wedding dress on Facebook for £2.5k

One of the stars of Married At First Sight UK is selling her wedding dress as she bids to put the show behind her. Jess Potter appeared on the hit E4 reality show when it returned to screens last year.

The dental hygienist tied the knot with Dreamboys dancer Pjay Finch after signing up to the series which sees singletons marry complete strangers. However, 31-year-old Jess struggled to feel anything more than friendship when it came to her partnership with Pjay, also 31.

They ended up separating and leaving the love experiment – with Jess claiming she received cruel comments from trolls on social media after leaving the show.

And now Jess, from Cambridgeshire, is selling her Sophia Tolli wedding dress because of the memories it brings up. She has advertised the ‘fit and flare’ style gown for £2,500 - £1,000 less than she bought it for.

"I paid £3,500 for the dress and, at the end of day, it doesn’t exactly have any good memories," Jess admitted. "I just feel like the whole wedding and whole show made me feel like I was completely set up for entertainment. Maybe others are keeping their dresses as memories of Married at First Sight. But I didn’t enjoy one second and just want it out of my house."

Jess also says that she and Pjay have no communication at all - with Jess going as far as blocking him online. "I paid a lot of money for the dress as I thought I was going into a real wedding," she said. "To be honest, it’s just sitting in my house and I want to give my mum the money back.

"They say they’re looking for people who want to get married and settle down – but if that was true, they wouldn’t have given me everything I didn’t ask for. I actually ended up blocking him a week or two weeks after the show was out - but we had really good relationship during the show."

She went on: "I’ve had a few people message me about the dress. Facebook is the best place for it to go because everyone’s on social media. I’ve also put it on selling apps as well just to get rid of it. Mentioning the show in the advert hasn’t bought it loads of attention, people probably think it’s a cursed dress and want to avoid it. You never know – there might be a fan of Dreamboys and think it’s one step closer to reaching them."

Since leaving the show Jess has met a new man - and says she is hoping for another wedding. Back in October, after sharing a series of loved-up snaps on Instagram, Jess' followers took to the comment section to question whether she'd secretly been in a relationship while she was on the show.

However, she quickly cleared things up. "Nooooo!!! We met on tinder 4 months ago. Me and PJ have been back from the experiment over 6 months now," she clarified at the time.

Speaking about her next nuptials, despite not yet being engaged, Jess said of her dress: "I would go for something completely different for my wedding [dress], something a bit more princess-y. I hope it’s soon, I’ve got my fingers crossed for my boyfriend to propose to me this year, I’m manifesting it."

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "Contributor care and wellbeing is of paramount importance and we work closely with our production partners to ensure robust contributor care protocols are in place and that appropriate support is available to contributors before, during and well after broadcast, including access to an independent psychologist."
