Married at First Sight's Thomas praised for honest message after leaving the show

Married at First Sight's Thomas Hartley has issued an emotional statement after his exit from the show.

The reality TV star had been coupled up with Adrian Sanderson on the latest season of the popular programme. The Scouse pair got off to a difficult start as they jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon.

The two overcame their rocky start and decided to stay together in the final commitment ceremony of the series. However, questions remained over whether there was a romantic spark in their relationship.

The final dinner party took place on Tuesday's episode and Thomas was upset as he spotted the romantic connection between the other couples at the table. This prompted the two to have a tearful heart to heart and they decided they would not take their final vows.

Viewers of the show fell in love with the Scouse pair's relationship and said they hoped they will remain friends after the show as they had such a strong bond.

Now, Thomas has opened up about his time on the show. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, he told his many followers it has been a "wild ride".

He said: "I’ve loved it, but I’m glad to see the end. The show's like having a massive mirror held up to yourself and is an amazing learning and growing process, not only about yourself but about others and how to navigate through social situations I'd never faced."

Thomas said he has "fond memories" and is leaving with some incredible friends including the MAFS experts Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas.

He continued: "Going forward the show has allowed me to be presented with a platform to tell my story as a queer man, share my passion of being a trans ally and to speak on social issues that are important to me. My story of abuse has been shared with the public and I feel I can now live as my authentic self in the world confidently.

"The most important thing from this process, is all the beautiful people that follow and have reinstated my confidence in how wonderful people really are. Thank you to my supportive agency and the welfare team, crew and my cast members.

"Love to you all. What a wild ride."

Fans were quick to wish Thomas well after his honest post. Kelly said: "You absolutely made the show! Can’t wait to see what amazing things come your way xxxx".

Amanda said: "Have adored watching you and agree with just about everything you have said and really admire you for being open about your personal life, and helping others I'm sure. I hope u find your happy ever after one day and that person will be very lucky to have you."
