Married at First Sight's Simon and Alene confirm split

Married at First Sight couple Alene Khatcherian and Simon McQuillan have called it quits despite vowing to stay together.

Sources told The Daily Telegraph Australia that McQuillan had ended their relationship, leaving Khatcherian devastated.

The pair later confirmed their split in a statement to Australian website The Fix.

"It was a difficult decision but we have decided to part ways.

"We remain the greatest of friends and we will continue to be part of each others' lives," the pair said in a statement.

Khatcherian and McQuillan were one of only two couples to stay together after the latest season of Married at First Sight finished.

The pair had spoken of their wish to have children together.
