Married At First Sight's George shares cryptic post about being matched with Gemma

Married At First Sight star George Roberts has left viewers confused after sharing a social media post suggesting that he should have been matched up with Gemma Rose.

The father-of-four married the former Miss Great Britain after meeting her for the first time at the altar as part of the popular E4 show. However, the couple's journey has had a few bumps in the road and viewers have watched their relationship go south in recent episodes.

Allegations surfaced after George was able to wed a stranger on the show despite three of his exes reportedly making complaints of his his alleged emotional abuse to the police. Gemma, who is coupled with Matt Murray, took to Instagram to respond to fans' questions, with one writing: "George or PJ would have been better suited to you."

She replied by tagging both of her co-stars and writing: "A George and PJ sandwich." George shared the post with a heart and crying laughing emoji, writes The Mirror.

Despite being popular among MAFS UK fans, George has allegedly now been accused of 'emotional abuse' from three of his ex-girlfriends who have claimed that they made police complaints about him after learning George was set to appear on the show.

George's three ex-girlfriends allegedly made independent complaints to police about his alleged 'obsessive', 'manipulative' and 'abusive' behaviour, according to The Sun. The three women were allegedly left 'horrified' after seeing George in trailers for the current series of the E4 match-making show.

After raising their concerns with police, the three women claim that their worries were ignored by officials and Channel 4. They each allegedly told police that the financial advisor 'love-bombed' them by showering them with affection and gifts before they claim his behaviour turned 'coercive and controlling'.

A spokesperson for Roberts said: “George categorically denies these allegations. As a father of daughters he finds these accusations deeply upsetting and does not condone abuse nor behaves in that way. These allegations were never brought to his attention, investigated or taken further by the police for good reason as they are simply not true.”

Meanwhile, Channel 4, which runs E4, claimed rigorous checks were made on the contestants and 'any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously'. A spokesperson told The Mirror: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.
