Married At First Sight's April 'terrified' to leave the house after cheating backlash

Married At First Sight UK star April Banbury has revealed she is terrified to leave her home after the backlash from her cheating scandal.

Former Miss Great Britain April, 32, tied the knot with husband George Roberts on the show but shared a kiss with another woman during their honeymoon in Jamaica.

The betrayal came to light on the show, which saw husband George in tears and MAFS fans angered at the scandal.

Now, April has become the subject of abuse from angered fans on social media as well as cruel comments from trolls.

The newfound reality star has been forced to defend herself, taking to her own social media channels to urge viewers to "be kind" and remember "it’s a TV show".

She also revealed the backlash has been so severe she has "locked herself away" at home as it is "too tough to deal with mentally".

Speaking to The Sun, April explained: "It's been really hard to deal with, I didn't expect so much hate - it put me in a place where I never thought I'd see myself.

"I like to think I'm a good person; it was really tough to deal with mentally, I didn't want to leave the house, people are mean - some people are really mean - but you know what, it's OK. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

"You just have to remember who you are, and remember that the people that love you know who you are and stay focused, if anyone wants to troll me, I know that I'm loved. Haters going to hate, I feel sorry for them as I guess they are the ones with the real issues."

April went on to say she will do "everything I can" to stand up against the bullying as she reminded fans they don't see everything from their honeymoon - just a cleverly edited version.
