Married at First Sight Australia: third commitment ceremony sees cheating groom bow out

Married at First Sight Australia saw the couples sit down once again with the panel of experts on Monday night's show, as the third commitment ceremony got underway.

And thrashed into the spotlight hot off the back of an explosive dinner party were Adam, Claire, Janelle and Jesse after Claire Nomarhas previously exposed her and Adam's dirty secret of sharing a "drunken kiss" and betraying their partners.

The dinner party last week saw some uncomfortable viewing as Claire, 31, got a very icy reception from her fellow brides but it was Adam Seed who got the brunt of the stick over the cheating scandal for not owning his mistake and deflecting the blame to his wife Janelle.

The 35-year-old business owner blamed his rocky relationship with his wife Janelle, 28, and said he didn't categorise it as cheating because of the "place they were in" despite his wife seemingly being blindsided by the revelation by admitting she thought they were "in a good place."

In stark contrast is Kindergarten assistant Claire, who has repeatedly fallen on her sword, profusely apologising to her husband Jesse, 30, having written him an open letter explaining how she plans to make things up to him and move forward.

Adam previously opened up about his cheating past when he met Janelle at the alter, as her brothers expressed concerns over the news he once cheated on an engaged partner 10 years ago but defended himself saying it "wasn't in his character now."

"I copped the brunt of the situation over a silly little drunk kiss with claire, it seems I am in a room full of perfect people who have never made a mistake in their life," he said ahead of confronting his peers.

But there was no escaping the heat from the panel of experts as John Aiken held him accountable for his actions.

He said: "The message is very clear that you're not owning, you can say the word I'm sorry but you do not understand it when you cheated on Janelle you made a choice.

"You got in Jesse's face by choice, you were called out about your relationship and chose again to call things phoney and chose to be flirty and chose to drink that night.

"My point is these bad choices you are making, nobody else, you are and until you own that you're gonna repeat these mistakes," he continued.

"The only person who you should have cared about is Janelle, I don't care if you get on or not, plenty of people don't but they don't kiss another bride, that's your choice and what everyone is telling you is you don't walk the walk, you get angry defensive and blame - don't do that."

Not to much surprise both Adam and Janelle decided to leave the experiment, with Adam immediately getting off the couch and leaving the room as not one person followed.

Janelle hugged her fellow brides as she returned to the group and said she was "relieved" before the episode continued.

Meanwhile, it appeared marriage celebrant Jesse and his wife Claire made a turnaround as they also faced the drama on the couches and, in a heartbreaking moment, Jesse said the infidelity has left him feeling 'unworthy of love.'

"It's the betrayal and gaslighting, the way they treated Jesse its way past kissing," said Alyssa as it didn't take long for the group to add in their thoughts.

Despite fellow brides Melinda and Alyssa throwing their two cents in, Claire vowed to earn back Jesse's trust as she committed to staying in the process, as Jesse wanted to leave.

Jesse said: "I can provide Claire my forgiveness, understanding and friendship and I can do all those things whilst still doing the right thing by my self and I have chosen to leave."

However, the reality show states that if one person in the couple wants to leave and the other wants to stay, they remain in the experiment for a week to see if they can turn things around.

Dental hygenist bride Sandy jumped to Claire's defence when she was called out in front of everyone by both Melinda and Alyssa, who have been vocal in their opinions of her since the cheating scandal broke out.

Sandy, 36, said: "Shes owning and apologising for her mistake, shes is being accountable by apologising and coming forward. I don't know what else she can do right now."

Turning to the experts and defending herself, Claire said: "Leaving would be like saying I've said the truth im going to go bye, it would be not trying to make amends and make him feel he is deserving and worthy.

"I wrote Jesse a letter which probably better explains my decision and my reasons for tonight. I chose to stay and try and earn back his trust and forgiveness.

"But I also don't want him to feel he has to stay if he doesn't want to. Im so sorry Jesse."

Panel expert John concluded: "Jesse the way you handled it has been remarkable, you have maintained a kindness that frankly at times has taken our breath away.

"They are the qualities of someone who absolutely deserves love, I know its a difficult situation but we have seen relationships turn around and if you can give her a chance to see what she's got who knows what will happen, no guarantees but just observe the next seven days.

"Time will now tell, you have both handled it really well and good luck for the week ahead."

Married At First Sight Australia airs Monday - Thursday on E4 at 7:30pm.
