Married at First Sight Australia stars Jesse Burford and Janelle Han stunned fans recently when they were spotted holding hands, with many eagle eyed followers of the reality show speculating they had found love together.
The pair starred as contestants in the Channel 4 show, which has not long finished airing to UK audiences, and were said to have built a "trauma bond" according to Janelle after their marriages broke down on the programme following a cheating scandal.
Marriage celebrant Jesse's wife Claire Nomarhas and Janelle's husband Adam Seed shared a 'drunken kiss' during the show, which left huge holes in both marriages and led to their eventual split.
And with recently surfaced images of Jesse and Janelle out in public looking rather smitten holding hands, it appears nothing has gone further than a quick kiss as Jesse has set out to put any rumours to bed during a Q&A session on Instagram.
Jesse confirmed him and Janelle "are not" in a relationship according to DigitalSpy, whilst also breaking his silence on romance rumours with co-star Lyndall Grace, who he says is just his "very good pal".
"It started off as, 'Yeah let's f**k with with everyone! Let's hold hands or let's... you know, hug or let's go out for a date or something' and then it turned into us actually getting to know each other better and I guess maybe having a bit of a flirtationship, if you could call it that," he explained in a video.
"But it didn't go past the kiss that you guys already know about. And when I say kiss, I'm not talking [a full-on snog]... I'm talking [a peck]. It was a simple little peck on the lips before she moved over to Sydney.
"She plans on being in Sydney for up to two years and we both don't wanna do a long-distance thing, and it's as simple as that. She wishes me the best, I wish her the best. We still catch up every now and again, and that's it."
It comes as only last week Janelle hinted the pair were romantically involved as she said they were "more than friends" appearing on the Back to Reality podcast with Al Perkins and Taku Chimwaza.
The 28-year-old influencer admitted she and Jesse kissed, but they hadn't explored their relationship any further as she moved from Perth to Sydney and he still lives in Western Australia.
"There was a moment before I left for Sydney that me and Jesse were hanging out heaps, it was at the peak of when the cheating scandal came out and potentially [it was] a trauma bond but we grew very close and we did share one peck," Janelle said.
The podcast hosts quizzed Janelle for the juicy details of the kiss and if anything more happened, but the MAFS bride said there was "no tongue."
She explained: "There was a period where we both definitely liked each other, I was drunk one night and I told him that I had a low-key crush on him."
"But he's been pretty vocal that I am his type as well, so it wasn't weird territory," Janelle added.
"We just knew that I was moving to Sydney and he was staying in Perth so it just wasn't worth exploring anything."
But the beauty influencer did say that if they had been matched together on the show, she thinks they would've had a good shot at working out.
