Married at First Sight star Alyssa Barmonde has spoken out following the news that her ex-husband on the reality show has 'moved on' with one of their co-stars, as Duncan James and Evelyn Ellis have officially confirmed their romance.
The tenth series of the Australian Channel 4 reality show wrapped up this week on UK screens for another year, and it was bursting with its usual drama. We previously reported producers had been slammed for some of this year's contestants.
One of which was single mum Alyssa, who fans previously described as "toxic" by some viewers over her need for reassurance and attention from Duncan, with the tensions eventually leading to their split.
And now Alyssa has broken her silence on her ex-partner from the show, admitting she found it "tough" to watch the programme back due to feeling she had been "edited" to portray a certain way by producers.
The 35-year-old spoke with Hello! during a recent interview following the news breaking that Duncan had moved on after finding a spark with co-star Evelyn, and she has now partnered with a dating app for single parents.
Alyssa said: “I’m just grateful that it’s over and to have my voice back and for people to see that I’m a normal person and a loving mother. I do wish the best for Duncan and his future relationship, but the person portrayed on TV is definitely not me.”
Speaking to the magazine in more detail about how she felt about her portrayal on TV, Alyssa added: “It’s been hard watching it back specifically because of how the story went, which is not how I remember it.”
She continued: “The editing almost gave me more doubts about the entire relationship. Because then I started thinking back and I think there was the time when the experts asked him if it was a concern that my child would be a priority. And in real life, he said ‘Yes, it’s a concern’ but then they edited him to say ‘No, it’s not a concern’ and I thought ‘I can’t do this anymore.'”
Alyssa and Duncan had previously been one of the more popular couples during the earlier days on the show, as fans saw them going the distance, but it all took a sour turn over repetitive arguments.
The pair finally came to a blow at final vows when Duncan ended things.
Meanwhile, Duncan and Evelyn confirmed their relationship during an interview with Nine earlier this week. The model and cyber security worker Duncan were recently pictured kissing and cuddling on a date night in Sydney, and have now finally gone public with their romance.
The couple spilt the tea on their newfound relationship as part of an 'Honesty Box' challenge which asked straight up if they were in a relationship.
"Yes I am!" Duncan said without any hesitation, before adding: "Well yes, we are."
"We are in a relationship. This is [our] hard launch," Evelyn told the Aussie site. "It feels good to finally just say it and it feels kind of exhilarating in a weird, freeing way."
