Married at First Sight Australia welcomed two new couples into the experiment on Tuesday night, and it was less than love at first sight for both couples.
First, we saw account executive Hugo and nurse Tayla meet at the alter as they exchanged their vows and joined the other couples in the experiment to find love.
And from the moment we met the pair it was clear laid back 32-year-old Hugo was likely to clash with his new bride, 27, who confessed she was a "control freak."
"My control is quite extreme at times and has impacted relationships in the past - what we have for dinner or movie we choose, it has to be my way and I don’t compromise," she said.
Viewers got a very clear insight into just how stressed she really gets on the morning of her wedding day as she repeatedly claimed she "couldn't breathe" at the prospect of marrying a stranger as she began to get cold feet.
But things went from bad to worse at the alter when the pair met, and when she heard her new husband's name she declared it was the same as a goat she once had.
Despite this, she still managed to forget her own husbands name which Hugo seemed to take in good humour as he confessed "I know a fellow space cadet when I see one."
"She seems like she will be like a bit of a handful but also a wildcard and thats exciting to me," he added.
Meanwhile, at the other wedding which introduced brand new groom electrician Rupert and bride model Evelyn, it was more of a comedy series than a reality dating show.
The couple had been matched due to 27-year-old Rupert's "authentic" type of personality, with Evelyn, also 27, having been burnt in past relationships and cheated on.
But it was clear from the moment Rupert entered the room he had forgotten what show he was on, or perhaps focused on it too much - as he was profusely sweating rubbing his hands on his suit admitting he "felt sick."
He even dropped the rings before he walked down the aisle as he fumbled around looking for them on the ground admitting he thought he "lost" his bride's ring.
“His name's Rupert what type of name is Rupert," Evelyn exclaimed as she admitted she was less than impressed with her new partner.
At the vows Rupert's incredibly awkward speech was met with silence in the room, even saying 'thank you' as he closed his vows before losing Evelyn's ring yet again, in his own pocket.
Fellow groom Cameron who is already on the show laughed as he told producers "she's going to rip him to shreds, he's dusted."
The awkward tension didn't seem to ease any as the night went on. Evelyn became increasingly frustrated at the lack of enthusiasm and conversation from her new groom.
When she attempted to prompt conversation by asking him what his 'pick up' line would be if he spotted her in a bar he responded by saying he would approach her and tell her she "owe's him an espresso," as Evelyn looked dumfounded.
“I don't know. I am trying with this fella and not getting anything in return, in all honesty I am very much steering the ship," she said.
Fans took to Twitter to share their first impressions of the new couples, and they weren't impressed with the new additions.
"What was the f**** point of Rupert & Evelyn… can these producers give us some decent couples next year? It’s hard to get invested when the mismatch is that obvious. #mafs #mafsau," said one viewer.
Another added: "Good grief that was awkward. Evelyn and Rupert could very well be one of the worst matches in the history of MAFS #mafs #mafsau."
A third chimed: "Evelyn thinking it would probably be less painful to give birth then to listen to Rupert Poor bloke haha #mafs #MAFSAU #mafsaus"
Someone else added: "I can't stop howling at the newest marriages. I hope Tayla does not lose her shit like that in ER #MAFSAU #MAFS #mafs."
