Married at First Sight Australia: Fans hail Hugo Armstrong for standing up to Tayla Winter in photo ranking task

It was time for the original couples in Married at First Sight Australia to regroup with their loved ones on Tuesday night's episode following an emotional commitment ceremony as we said goodbye to Adam and Janelle.

And our newlyweds Hugo, Tayla, Rupert and Evelyn got their 'fast-track' experience to the experiment with a bang as they moved in together and took part in various different tasks to catch up with the other couples.

Whilst electrician Rupert and model Evelyn appeared to turn a corner in their marriage over the 'melting hug' bonding task, the same couldn't be said for account executive Hugo and his self-declared "control freak" wife Tayla, who works as a nurse.

From the moment Tayla, 32, set eyes on Hugo, 37, she admitted he wasn't her type at all with fans slamming her "bratty behaviour" over her first impressions.

And viewers really got an insight into how difficult a road it was going to be for the couple when she made a bid during a game of croquet of who would get the bed for the rest of the experiment, after making him sleep on the window sill on their honeymoon.

Hugo even called out her decision as being "inhumane" as the six-foot-tall guy explained how uncomfortable it is for him to bunk on the couch for the night.

Well, unfortunately, it looks like she wasn't joking either on Tuesday's episode as they moved into the apartments together and she immediately declared her mark.

"I am still on the bed you can sleep on the couch and we will start our day early tomorrow I think," she demanded as they set foot into the apartment and only gave him space to hang one shirt up despite having an entire apartment of storage as she "had more things."

Hugo responded in his usual hilariously sarcastic tone: "That's so generous thank you.

"We are the intruder couple and we do need to be playing catch up, we should both be allowed to sleep on the bed as adults, if you want a pillow divider thats fine."

But Tayla was having none of it as she said it would be "too much" for her claiming she got a shiver at the thought and called him a "man-baby" behind cameras.

"I don't wanna hurt your feelings but I'm probably not gonna take that into account," she shockingly added.

"I don't think the way shes behaving is ok," Hugo added as he spoke to producers on camera.

"Give her an inch and she takes a mile so has to be a change coming. It's not a case of me putting my foot down its time for Tayla to grow up."

We saw later in the episode that Hugo made his stance clear when they took part in the photo ranking challenge when they were tasked to rate the other bride and grooms on the show, based on first impressions.

"It doesn't matter you're not here," Tayla said as she pretended she couldn't see his face among the other grooms on the table before a producer pointed out he was in front of her.

She eventually put him first, despite alluding Cameron was going, declaring he was "funny 60 per cent of the time," but she wasn't convincing anyone who thought it was a "pity vote."

But Hugo got his own back when it was his turn to rank the brides, when he put Tayla last place and put Melinda and Bronte up at the top, adding Bronte was "hot" and there is "something super piercing about her eyes".

He then ranked Tayla last asking her "do you reckon you deserve to go at the top with how youve been treating me?"

"It's not just about looks, I think from all of that maybe you do deserve to be last. Look, it's my decision no way I'm gonna let you be the last woman," as he puts her second last ahead of Sandy.

Despite Hugo profusely apologising for upsetting her in the photo ranking challenge and even agreeing she should go last, she was unimpressed as she lay in bed whilst he was talking to her with an eye mask covering her face the next day, having complained of toothache the night before.

"Thanks for throwing me under a bus when oyu didn't need to, you didn't like my personality and I feel it was unfair," Tayla quipped.

Hugo said: "For me, I left the photo there, I guess it was me expressing my dissatisfaction for where marriage is at currently."

One fan said: "I think Tayla's going to confuse most people. Another day of acting like someones pissed in her cornflakes, im p***** off its frustrating and exhausting my back is hurting from carrying this relationship."

"GOOO Hugo!! it's about time Tayla was knocked down a peg," quipped one fan on social media.

Another added: "Hugo putting Tayla in her place really was something she acts like a total spoilt brat tbh #mafs #MAFSAU."

Meanwhile, it was an emotional visit for Claire and her husband Jesse as they attempt to navigate tricky waters following the aftermath of her and Adam's 'drunken kiss' which left the 30-year-old marriage celebrant feeling empty and "unworthy of love."

But the "nuggets of wisdom" from Claire's dad could have at least broken down some walls between the pair as they seemed to ignite a friendly spark.

"Life is up and down, I have experienced a lot of it," Claire's dad Lee said during his trip to visit the couple.

"There are things we can and can't get over - it's up to us, we have that decision to make. I can't tell you what to do, I'm hurt, look at me, for both of you, I mean you're married…..

"If you can find it in yourselves and reach deep down in your hearts, have it out, talk it out and move on with it. "Don't give up too easy whatever happens here really fight for it cause' that's what it is about this is real."
