Married at First Sight Australia expert teases show first that changes the course of series in first 10 seconds

Married at First Sight fans will be pleased to know the Australian version of the hit series is back on our screens at 7.30pm on Monday, March 6. And appearing on This Morning ahead of the programme's premiere, Mel Schilling, MAFS love guru, has opened up on all the dramas set to unfold - including one which is a "complete game changer" that changed the course of the "entire experiment".

If you're not clued up on MAFs, the show, as explained by Mel - who works in a team of experts including psychologist John Aiken and sexologist Alessandra Rampolla - is a social experiment in which "we are actually pairing people up who have never met before, who probably wouldn't usually meet in real life, and they meet for the first time at the alter. They clasp eyes on each other for the first time- on their wedding day". Matching people by looking at data and through interviews, they pair people up by their values in a relationship and what they "need".

She added: "Really what it's about for us is the science. The big question here is: Can science predict love? And that is the question we're constantly seeking to understand."

As a fan herself, Holly Willoughby, who presents This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, was dying to query Mel on a situation that had been spotted in the teaser trailer of the show, which showcases a snippet of what's to come on the season.

She said: "So, there is a tease. And we saw it there in the trailer. There is something that happens in the first nine seconds that changes everything... what is it?"

Mel responded: "Holly, it's a complete game changer. Literally, the first ten seconds will change the course of the entire experiment. Something happens that is so out of the blue, it's never happened before, and it changes the way..."

Holly interrupted, guessing: "Is someone already married?" "There's a hypothesis, let's add that into the mix," said Mel, keeping her cards close to her chest.
