Marnie Simpson 'shocked' as she shares graph of newborn son Oax's 'severe' skull disorder

Marnie Simpson has opened up about a health condition that she said is affecting her newborn son, Oax.

The reality TV star, 30, welcomed her second child Oax, now four months old, with fiancé Casey Johnson, 27, in May this year - having already been parents to son Rox, two.

She's since shared on Instagram that the newborn has torticollis - a muscle problem which can cause the head to tilt - and plagiocephaly - which involves a flattened head.

The Geordie Shore alum spoke about the conditions in a post on the platform this afternoon, in which the mother-of-two said that she was "shocked" by the severity of such.

Alongside a photo of Oax and a graph, she wrote: "So basically Oax has torticollis from his position in the womb which has left him unable to move his head left.

She said that it is "hopefully improving" with physio appointments with an osteopath, though added: "However this condition has left him with plagiocephaly".

Marnie recited the NHS description, which states that it involves the head being flattened on one side, causing it to look asymmetrical and like a parallelogram from above.

It adds that the disorder - which affects the skull - can cause the ears to be misaligned and sometimes leads to the forehead and face bulging a little on the flat side.

The other type of 'flat head syndrome' is brachycephaly, which the NHS says involves the back of the head becoming flattened, causing it to widen and the forehead may bulge.

Marnie continued in her post: "As you can see on Oax's graph he's on the severe side which even shocked me."

She said: "He's had his measurements taken yesterday by @technologyinmotion and in 2 weeks he'll get his helmet fitted. This company was recommended to me by various different places.

"Oax's head should end up in the yellow/green zone which is fab. Treatment should start between 4-6 months while the skulls are soft."

Marnie added: "I've taken before pictures so I can accurately compare and document the process for you all."

Marnie said she had received numerous messages about it, adding: "I'm being open about his progress as I know so many parents don't even know about the issue and it gets left."

The post attracted comments from some of her former co-stars, like Charlotte Crosby, who wrote: "Aww Marns". Whilst Marnie's partner and Oax's dad Casey wrote: "The cutest little baby".
