Marnie Simpson's son, 6 months, in hospital after suffering muscular disorder

Marnie Simpson revealed her six-month-old son is in the hospital after suffering from a skull muscular disorder.

She took to social media to explain to her 5.3 million followers the reason she hasn't been as active.

The Geordie Shore star, 30, said she and her young son Oax have 'honestly going through a lot'.

On her Instagram Stories, the star wrote in white over a black background: "Sorry if I've not got back to anyone. We're honestly going through a lot with Oax.

"Please understand I'm not ignoring anyone just having a tough time atm I'll be back soon."

She later shared a picture of her cradling her sleeping baby in her arms as she pouted at the camera.

"Determined to get answers for you baby boy even if it kills me," the reality star captioned the post.

Marnie also shared a picture of Portland Hospital and asked her followers to 'wish them luck'.

The TV personality welcomed her second child, Oax, with her fiancé Casey Johnson, 27, in May this year.

She recently revealed that the young one has torticollis, which is a muscle problem that can cause the head to tilt.

Her baby also has plagiocephaly - which involves a flattened head.

"So basically Oax has torticollis from his position in the womb which has left him unable to move his head left," she said.

She said that it is "hopefully improving" with physio appointments with an osteopath, though added: "However this condition has left him with plagiocephaly".

Marnie recited the NHS description, which states that it involves the head being flattened on one side, causing it to look asymmetrical and like a parallelogram from above.

It adds that the disorder - which affects the skull - can cause the ears to be misaligned and sometimes leads to the forehead and face bulging a little on the flat side.

The other type of 'flat head syndrome' is brachycephaly, which the NHS says involves the back of the head becoming flattened, causing it to widen and the forehead may bulge.

Marnie continued in her post: "As you can see on Oax's graph he's on the severe side which even shocked me."

She said: "He's had his measurements taken yesterday by @technologyinmotion and in 2 weeks he'll get his helmet fitted. This company was recommended to me by various different places.

"Oax's head should end up in the yellow/green zone which is fab. Treatment should start between 4-6 months while the skulls are soft."
