Marksbury Road stabbing: Two teenagers released on bail

Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a boy was stabbed in South Bristol have been released on bail. The attack took place on Marksbury Road at around 7pm on Tuesday (23 August), prompting the attendance of a police helicopter and armed officers.

The 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital for injuries which were not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening. No update on his condition has yet been provided.

Police believe that the stabbing was an isolated incident, involving people who were known to one another. The two suspects – one aged 16 and the other aged 15 – were released on conditional bail.

The Marksbury Road stabbing is one of two serious violent incidents in Bristol this week that have seen two people being taken to hospital with stab wounds. In the second incident on the very early hours of Thursday a man was rushed to hospital after being found with stab wounds on Stapleton Road.

Police were alerted to the incident by the ambulance service around 12:30am (August 25). A search was carried out in the area but no offenders were located.

The injured man, who is in his 30s, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
