Marks and Spencer has delighted shoppers after unveiling its Mother's Day themed Connie the Caterpillar cake, with some telling Aldi not to "dare" release a similar version.
A legend of the British retail scene, M&S boasts a loyal following across its social media channels. To keep shoppers in the loop on all its newest products and releases, the store regularly posts across a variety of Instagram pages.
Recently, the famed retailer caused a stir on its food Instagram account. To its 267K Instagram followers, Marks and Spencer Food shared a photo of its My Hero Connie the Caterpillar Cake.

The chocolate flavoured caterpillar cake has been given a Mother's Day makeover, complete with a decorative pink hero mask and matching superhero cape, designed to celebrate mums and caregivers. It costs £6. Mother's Day is this Sunday, March 27.
Captioning the image, credited to food-focused Instagram accounts @newfoodsuk and @sweetreviewsuk, M&S penned: "In case you missed it, this Mother’s Day the legendary Connie the Caterpillar Cake has had a Mother's Day makeover! Show Mum what a hero she is this Mother's Day with the My Hero Connie the Caterpillar Cake - complete with a pink hero mask, and top it all off, a pink super hero cape of course".
The photo proved popular on the hit social media platform, racking up more than 2,000 likes in one day. Shoppers shared their thoughts in the comments section.
One shopper tagged Aldi, in reference to the recent Colin vs Cuthbert legal battle, and said: "@aldiuk don’t you dare!"
