Customers of Marks and Spencer are in for a real treat with their unique looking white strawberries.
The exclusive new £4 Collection White Pearl Strawberries, a first on the UK high street according to the Daily Record., officially landed in M&S Food Halls today and they offer an exciting twist.
Described as a "strawberry in reverse", the seeded fruit is white on the outside with pure white flesh on the inside and covered in red seeds.
Not only do they look incredible, but the new fruit is said to be sweet just as a red strawberry would be. But the twist comes in its aroma which is said to be a mix of pineapple and vanilla.

Taking to Instagram the retailer wrote: "These are TRULY not just any strawberries… these are NEW Collection White Pearl™ Strawberries, the first on the UK high street, exclusively launching in M&S Foodhalls. With an INCREDIBLE unique appearance – white on the outside, pure white flesh on the inside and covered in red seeds, it's a strawberry in reverse!
"You’ll have to taste it to believe it, our Collection White Pearl™ Strawberries are sweet like a red strawberry, with an aroma of pineapple and notes of vanilla! Best eaten at room temperature for maximum deliciousness!!"
Tom Pedley, M&S Strawberry Buyer says: "At M&S we love to be first to market and introduce products that no one else can, our customers get really excited when we introduce new flavour produce or hybrids!
"We’re known for our Candyfloss Grapes, while the Limelon was all over the news so that’s why we had to bring the White Pear Strawberry to M&S, not only does it have a really unique flavour but it’s incredible to look at, plus, it’s great for kids, who doesn’t want to try a reverse strawberry!"
In response to the post, people were clearly keen to get their hands on a box of the fruit.
One said: "Adds to list of strange things M&S will take my money for."
Another added: "Oh wow!! These look amazing."
"I literally just tried to tap my phone screen with my debit card in the hope that they would be purchased and appear on my desk right now." wrote a third.
The Collection White Pearl Strawberries cost £4 and are available in M&S Food Halls now.
