Shoppers have been flocking to Marks and Spencer Food Halls in search of the latest Percy Pig launch. A new packet of sweets hit the shelves over the weekend, with the supermarket reportedly selling 11,000 packs in 24 hours.
It’s the first new pack of Percy Pig sweets in almost a year, and celebrates the love story of Percy and his partner, Penny.
The ‘You Give Me Butterflies’ have fast become a fan favourite, with M&S saying they’re already the second best selling Percy Pig sweet bag, behind the OG Percy Pig sweets.

The new sweets have been created to mark the love story of Percy and Penny. The couple ‘met’ 10 years ago and started dating before being ‘married’ five years later, with the supermarket saying ‘they still give each other butterflies every day.’
M&S shared the news of the launch on their socials, with fans going wild for the brand new sweets, with more than 16.7k likes and over 600 comments in less than a day.
An overwhelming majority of comments say how much people ‘need’ to try these and how incredibly cute they are.
One said: “Omg this is so adorable we absolutely love your new product and the meaning behind it.” While another commented: “Wow I need these in my life.”
A third wrote: “Relationship goals,” with someone else responding: “I need a relationship like Percy and Penny.”
Not everyone was obsessed, though, with some suggesting it’s ‘a bit early to advertise Valentine’s products’, with others wanting M&S to ‘bring back’ previous limited edition launches like Rosy Noses.
But the good news is that the new You Give Me Butterflies sweets - priced at £1.75 a pack - are going to be available all year round, with no plans to make them limited edition.
For those wondering what they taste like, the latest offering sees classic Percy flavours and a new Penny lemon. They’re made with real fruit juice and are suitable for vegans, too.
M&S sells over 400 million individual Percy Pig sweets every year, which is over 20 million bags, with 38 bags sold every minute.
Famous fans include Sir Andy Murray - who confesses to being partial to a pack of Percy Pigs before a match, along with Alexa Chung, The Beckhams, Calvin Harris, Adele, Camila Cabello, Tom Holland and many more.
The new Percy Pig sweets are currently only available in store - so you might want to factor in a trip to be one of the first to try them.
