Marks and Spencer shoppers 'do double take' after seeing new 'puppy' sweets

Marks and Spencer has launched a range of products ahead of this year's Valentine's Day - and one of them seems to have caught shoppers' attention.

Ahead of the romantic holiday, M&S stores are selling "Puppy Love" sweets.

These are cherry and cola flavoured sweets, in the shape of sausage dogs.

The sweets cost £2 per box and are available in stores only.

Sharing a photo of the seasonal food item on Facebook, Marks and Spencer said: "And they call it puppy loooove!

"Treat someone special to a box of these cherry and cola-flavoured jellies – they’re in store now!"

But many shoppers thought the sweets looked like something other than dogs.

Emma Hobbs said: "Oh my goodness I did not see puppies".

Petruska Maruska said: "I went to clean my glasses, yep still see the same".

Rachel Davison said: "Oh I thought it was Ann Summers chocolate for a mo there!"

Melanie Wilkinson said: "Lord above these do not look like puppies".

Beth Spivey said: "These look more for a hen do than Valentine's".

Carol Whitaker said: "I had to double take".

Marks and Spencer was approached for comment.
