Marks and Spencer confirms when it will open at former Debenhams unit in North Wales

Marks and Spencer has confirmed when it will open at a former Debenhams store.

The famous retailer is moving from Mostyn Street to Parc Llandudno - where the Debenhams store closed last spring.

The brand confirmed the opening date will be Wednesday March 16. They are creating another 50 jobs in the process, taking total job numbers to over 160.

This will be good news for the retail park which was hit badly by the pandemic but will leave a large gap on the high street.

M&S said it was the "very first store of its kind in Wales" with a "fresh-market-style Foodhall" and a 119-seat digital café.

The Maelgwn Male Voice Choir and San Sior School Choir will perform at the store opening as well as a harpist from Ysgol y Creuddyn.

Store manager Katie Whelan said: “My team and I are really excited to welcome the local community to our new Llandudno store.

"With a cheese barge, a digital café, and an exciting opening day to look forward to, we feel very lucky to be part of the new development.

"As the first store of its kind in Wales, we also take pride in leading the way to make shopping more enjoyable and convenient."
