Marks and Spencer is recalling 12 popular lunch products including sandwiches and salads over safety fears in Ireland.
The supermarket giant issued the recall through the Food Safety Authority of Ireland due to the possible presence of salmonella in many chicken items.
The FSAI state: "Marks & Spencer is recalling some products containing chicken due to the possible presence of Salmonella . Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches."
The items being recalled are; (use by dates in pictures below)
- Coronation chicken deli filler
- 14 piece classic sandwich platter
- Classic mini roll selection
- Chicken and bacon caesar wrap
- Made without wheat Gluten free chicken and bacon sandwich
- Roast chicken and bacon sandwich
- Roast chicken and salad sandwich
- Chicken and bacon layered salad
- Chargrilled chicken caesar salad
- Chicken honey mustard pasta salad
- Cafe gluten free chicken salad sandwich
- Cafe classic sandwich selection
People are asked not to eat the products, with the FSAI's warning adding: "People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours.
"The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have more severe illness."
