Mark Wright has recounted his very awkward first encounter with Craig David which ended with the chart topper effectively blanking the reality star.
The 33-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star is a self-confessed super fan of 38-year-old Fill Me In singer Craig, but their first ever meeting went pretty terribly, to say the least.
Opening up about the throwback moment on his Heart FM radio show, Mark painted a slightly desperate picture of himself trying to get the musician’s attention from almost a decade previously.
The Essex boy recalled a time he crossed paths with Craig in Miami, and it sounds like he practically stalked him around the same hotel they were staying in.
“It was about nine years ago, when I first came into this industry,” Mark recalled, telling Craig all about the encounter.
“You were living in this hotel that I stayed at and I wanted to stay there because I knew you went there,” Mark continued.
“All I wanted to do was hang out with Craig David, the man, in Miami,” he went on.
“I asked the concierge to leave a note under your door to say, ‘Hi it’s Mark Wright, please can we hang out, can you show me around?’ You didn’t get back to me,” he said.
“I found out the last day that the concierge refused to give you the note. I was devastated,” he revealed.
Craig professed innocence and assured Mark he would have met up with him if he had known he was there.
“The craziest thing is that if I had got the note you would have been coming to one of my parts in Miami,” Craig said.
“We will make up for it when the time is right. We will connect and do something,” he promised.
Mark Wight airs on Heart Monday to Thursday from 7pm-10pm and on Sunday from 12pm-4pm.
