Mark Wright on discovering lump which was 'growing fast' amid cancer scare

Mark Wright has opened up on his cancer scare after he was told a lump he found under his arm was 'growing quite fast'.

The former The Only Way is Essex star first shared the news with fans back in December.

Sharing a post on Instagram, Mark also revealed he had a huge 12cm tumour removed from his armpit.

The radio presenter, who is married to Stockport actress Michelle Keegan, shared his message alongside a series of photos after admitting it was a "tough call" to decide whether or not to speak about what he had been going through.

Now, opening up more about the scary time, Mark has told OK! Magazine : "It was at first. They couldn’t tell me if it was a lipoma.

"Even after ultrasound scans and MRIs and stuff, they still couldn’t tell me. It was just so big and it was growing quite fast, so that’s what was worrying for me."

He added: "Instead of doing a biopsy, they whipped it out and then I got the results about a week later and found it wasn’t cancer. So it was scary up until that point, then I felt so much better."

Before Christmas Mark shared a mirror selfie of himself, with his left arm lifted, to show the huge lump in his armpit.

Another showed him in the hospital before showing a shocking image of the tumour which has been removed next to a tape measure to show its size.

The 35-year-old explained a doctor "passed it on as 'a fatty lump that doesn’t need any treatment' so I just left it."

He added: "After some time the lump grew and began to bother me. I am someone that when it comes to life in general, I leave no stone unturned. When it involves health, this idiom quadruples."

The lump was thankfully later found to be benign and not cancerous.

Mark also recently told the Metro that speaking out about his experience led to many people reaching out to him to say that he had encouraged them to go and see their own doctors about lumps they'd been putting off getting checked.

He said: "I've had so many messages, even an actor friend messaged me to say that he had a lump that was quite sore and that I reminded him to go and get checked.

"He is all alright and everything, but it just reminds people to get checked just to be sure."
