Mark Wright breaks down on ITV This Morning as he recalls giving CPR to stranger who sadly died

Mark Wright broke down in tears on This Morning today as he recalled giving a stranger CPR but was unable to save him.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield today on the sofa to talk about the importance of learning Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The 35-year-old told how hen once took part in a CPR campaign and, just a week later, he had to put his training to use when a man collapsed at a hotel in Tenerife that Mark and his wife Michelle Keegan were staying at.

Despite Mark's best efforts, the stranger sadly died.

He recalled the moment that a panicked woman came up to him after her husband collapsed and no none knew how to perform CPR in the hotel, meaning he had to spring into action.

He got quite emotional as he recalled the moment: "I did what I could, but he was there for a while before I got there and... sorry."

Holly comforted him: "It's alright it is really difficult because like you said you have got someone's life under your hand and it doesn't get more real than that."

She then turned to her co-host and said: "You bought your father back didn't you? Doing the same thing."

Phil replied: "Yes, he collapsed when we lived in New Zealand and was certainly dead on the carpet and the whole world sort of went into sharp focus. I hadn't been trained but I'd watched stuff on TV and my mum was running next door. The whole place just went into panic but I just did that."

Mark and Dr Zoe Phillips then went on to demonstrate CPR with the hopes of saving more lives.
