Mark Lawrenson outlines Arsenal advantage over Manchester United in top-four pursuit

Arsenal have emerged in pole position to finish fourth this season - and team spirit from within their dressing room could see them across the line.

That's the verdict from Liverpool great turned BBC Sport pundit, Mark Lawrenson, who also waxed lyrical on Mikel Arteta and the job he is doing at the Emirates Stadium.

Having edged past Wolves on Thursday night, Arsenal put their feet up as Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham - three other contenders for Champions League qualification - all dropped points on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

However, should the Gunners take maximum points from their games in hand, they could sit five points clear of the chasing pack, at least, heading into the final stretch of this campaign.

Lawrenson said: "We talk about Manchester United and their dressing room [issues].

"It looks like Arsenal have got a good dressing room. They've signed one or two decent players defensively as well.

"We know about all the young lads that they've got.

Where will United finish this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"Of course, when you first come in the team you play with absolutely no fear whatsoever.

"You don't think about what you're doing, you just do it. It looks like it's a really, really well run club."

Lawrenson added: "I'm a fan of Arteta - I like what he's trying to do. It might well be that he needs another transfer window. I can only see them getting better definitely."
