Mark Duggan's rapper son arrested at Gatwick Airport over firearms offences

The drill rapper son of Mark Duggan has been arrested at Gatwick Airport over firearms offences.

Metropolitan Police officers detained Kemani Duggan, 22, on January 13.

Last Monday he appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of a handgun and ammunition without a licence.

Kemani, also known by the stage name Bandokay, featured as part of his hip hop collective Original Farm Boys on the BBC.

He will reappear at Wood Green Crown Court on February 13 accused of having a Zastava M57 semi-automatic pistol and 23 rounds of ammunition in Hackney between February 19 and March 21 last year.

Kemani was just 10 when his 29-year-old father was shot dead by police attempting to arrest him in Tottenham on August 4, 2011.

Scotland Yard said: “A man appeared in court charged with firearms offences.

“Kemani Duggan, 22, of Riversdale Road, N5 appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 15 charged with possession of a prohibited weapon (a handgun) and possession of ammunition without a licence.

“He was remanded to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on February 13.

“He was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Saturday, January 13 by officers from the Metropolitan Police.”

Mark was shot twice by officer V53 – one of the bullets which hit him in the chest was fatal.

In 2014, an inquest jury concluded Mark had been “lawfully killed”.

His family were outraged at the inquest verdict and took legal action, but their bid to overturn the inquest’s verdict was dismissed by the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
