Last-minute changes announced by Emmerdale star Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle in the long-running ITV show, have left fans "fuming". The actor took to social media to keep fans up-to-date, but news of a schedule change appears to have left them very disappointed.
Emmerdale has been off-air due to a scheduling re-shuffle caused by World Cup coverage. A similar rejig of programming times befell other must-see shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, as well as fellow soap, Coronation Street.
Both Emmerdale and Corrie are set to return tonight (December 7). An extended hour-long episode of Emmerdale will air at 7pm, followed by Corrie in its usual 8pm slot. The same arrangement will follow on Thursday and Friday, meaning fans of both soaps will be fully up to speed by Friday.

However, Mark also updated fans on further ITV scheduling disruption. The Big Quiz: Coronation Street v Emmerdale has also been rescheduled.
On Monday, Mark tweeted: "Last minute change due to World Cup: THE BIG QUIZ, #Emmerdale vs #Corrie no longer on tonight. Now screening Friday 9th at 9pm."
According to the Manchester Evening News, the annual Big Quiz sees stars of both hit shows go head-to-head in a battle of the ITV soaps. Fans were not impressed by the move with one person complaining: "Are u serious and here’s me looking forward to it this getting beyond a joke the sooner this World Cup is over the better." However, another saw the positive side, adding: "Aww, was just telling my hubby it was on tonight lol. Look forward to seeing it Friday then."
Some, however, had also been confused when Emmerdale and Corrie put out its schedule on social media for this week. Taking to Facebook, one viewer said: "The big Quiz was advertised for tonight, according to the ad this morning?" Another said: "I thought the big quiz was on tonight."
And there were still some complaints about the football. "Glad when football is over. It should have its own channel when it goes on for week," complained one person, with another adding: "I feel sorry for old folk who don’t live football. Sport should be on ITV 2 leave ITV 1 alone they get so confused and it’s their only entertainment as most only have free view if that. No excuses."
