Mark Andrews is excited about what Derrick Henry can bring to the Ravens’ offense

The Baltimore Ravens were relatively quiet in free agency this offseason, but they did add one major player in the form of running back Derrick Henry. It was always fun to imagine a scenario with MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson sharing the backfield with a superstar running back like Henry and this season that will become a reality.

One player who is excited about the addition is tight end Mark Andrews.

It’s incredible, man,Andrews said. “When you have a guy like Derrick [Henry], and then you’ve got No. 8 [Lamar Jackson] in the backfield, it’s … We’ve been against Derrick so many times in the last seven years I’ve been playing here, so just knowing the type of player that he is, how tough he is and the type of gameplans you have to have for a guy like Derrick … It’s going to be all eyes on him and [No.] 8. So, for us, being around those guys, it’s making the plays that are going to open things up for some really good things, which I’m excited about.

Henry’s numbers have taken a small dip in recent years, but some of that can be chalked up to running behind a poor offensive line in Tennessee. Even at the age of 30, Henry has shown little physical decline — a rarity among running backs, especially with his workload dating back to his time at Alabama and even high school.

Jackson has been the focal point of elite rushing attacks throughout his entire NFL career and pairing with Henry has the chance to take it to another level.
