Marius Juodenas: Dundalk murder investigation launched after man’s death

A murder investigation is underway in Co Lough after a man discovered with serious head injuries earlier this month died in hospital. Marius Juodenas, 44, died in hospital on July 26 after sustaining the injuries on July 5.

The Garda investigating the incident said he was found at a house on Barrack Street in Dundalk shortly before 7pm. He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he was placed on life support. He later died of his injuries.

A post-mortem was conducted at Dublin City mortuary on July 27. The results are not being released for operational reasons. An incident room has been put in place at Dundalk Garda station. A family liaison officer has been appointed to keep the family informed of the investigation.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who was in the vicinity of Barrack Street between 6.30pm and 7pm on July 5, to come forward.

"Any road users who were travelling in the area and who may have camera (including dash cam) footage is asked to make this available to investigating Gardai," they said in an appeal.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
