Leeds United winger and Chelsea transfer target Raphinha has a release clause in his contract that will become active at the end of the season.
But how much it is will depend on what league Marcelo Bielsa's side are playing in for the 2022-23 campaign.
Leeds currently sit in 15th place and have won just five games so far this season. The Whites will now be looking over their shoulders with just five points separating them from the relegation zone.
Whether they stay up or go down could make a huge difference to what Leeds do in the summer transfer window with a number of clubs, including Chelsea, monitoring their star man.
According to Football Transfers, Chelsea are leading the way for the 25-year-old, however.
The Blues have earmarked Raphinha as the perfect player to improve their attack, according to the report, while Barcelona are also keeping tabs on him.
Chelsea have even held talks with the players representatives, with Raphinha open to moving to Stamford Bridge in the future.
The key detail, however, is in the release clauses.
If Leeds remain in the Premier League, a €75 million (£63m) release clause will become activated. But if the Whites are relegated, that number will drop significantly to just €25 million (£21m).
It means Chelsea director of football Marina Granovskaia will have a clear route to strengthening Thomas Tuchel's attack, the area of the game his side have struggled with most.
Their total of 49 goals in the Premier League this season is the third highest but significantly lower than the 64 scored by Liverpool and 63 by Manchester City.
If they are to close the gap on their title rivals, it is an area they simply must strengthen.
