Marina Granovskaia can save Chelsea £220m by completing Mbappe, Pogba and Dembele transfers

The summer of 2022 will see some huge names in world football leave their clubs and be available on a free transfer.

While Chelsea have not been afraid to spend big to improve the squad, they are also excellent at picking players up on the cheap and they don't come much cheaper than being free.

As the Blues look to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League next season, head coach Thomas Tuchel will be exploring every avenue alongside director of football Marina Granovskaia in how to take the next step at Stamford Bridge.

And if the Blues are able to lure just one of these players to Cobham over the summer, it could be a major boost to not only their title aspirations but their hopes of securing a European trophy as well.

football.london takes a look at three players Chelsea could sign on a free and save themselves millions in the process.

Paul Pogba, Manchester United

This one may seem odd at first given Paul Pogba has failed to live up to the hype surrounding his £89million move from Juventus in 2016.

Though he lifted the League Cup and UEFA Europa League with United, Pogba has often come intro criticism for a number of poor performances and his distractions off the field.

However, there's no denying the midfielder is extremely talented and played a pivotal role in France reaching the 2016 UEFA European Championship finals and winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup, even scoring in the final.

When wearing the blue of France and playing alongside Chelsea's N'Golo Kante, it's clear to see why United splashed the cash on the 28-year-old and deploying him alongside his international teammate and in a better team structure could be a stroke of genius from Granovskaia.

Pogba has Premier League experience and has played in some of the biggest games in world football to entice Chelsea to bring him to west London.

Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain

Though it seems like a move to Real Madrid is all but done, Kylian Mbappe is looking increasingly likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer and Chelsea have to be interested.

Timo Werner has had a mixed at Stamford Bridge since joining and while Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all have their strengths, none are as good as Mbappe.

Still only 23, the French forward has already lifted the FIFA World Cup and has plenty of time to reach greater heights.

His solo goal against Madrid in the UEFA Champions League highlighted just how game-changing he can be in major moments and it's clear to see why major clubs in Europe have wanted him since he breaking through at Monaco back in 2017.

Despite never playing in the Premier League, it's hard to envisage Mbappe struggling to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League given he has impressed when playing English opposition on the Champions League.

Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona

A player with links to Chelsea and boss Thomas Tuchel, Ousmane Dembele could be the ideal alternative if Mpabbe opts to spend next season away from Stamford Bridge.

Demebele worked under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and thrived under the German and while injuries have disrupted is career with Barcelona, there's still an amazing player there.

Reuniting with Tuchel at Stamford and a change of scenery could be best for all parties and arriving without the weight of a transfer fee may be a blessing for a player who has failed to live up to his £117million price tag.

Turning 25 at the end of this season, Dembele will want to prove his doubters wrong with his next move and playing for a manager who he trusts could be the difference.

"He’s a very good player, and I am very fortunate to have trained him in my time at Dortmund,” Tuchel said back in January.
