The sun has reappeared above the Stade de France as stadium staff work diligently to clear the water from the women's pole vault area in preparation for the women's 400-meter race.

The competition kicks off with Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic making a remarkable breakaway from the pack with 200 meters to go. Her lead is insurmountable as she widens the gap and maintains her position until the finish line.

Paulino crosses the finish line in a stunning 48.17 seconds, setting a new Olympic record and showcasing her exceptional talent. This victory adds to her previous achievement at the Tokyo Games where she secured the 400m silver medal. Her performance on the wet track outside Paris is truly commendable.

Following closely behind, Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain finishes in 48.53 seconds, securing the silver medal, while Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland claims the bronze with a time of 48.98 seconds.

Paulino celebrates her victory by joyfully ringing the victory bell at the northern end of the stadium, adding a few extra rings for good measure. Her triumph is a testament to her skill and determination in the world of athletics.
