Marian Shved skewers Neil Lennon as Celtic flop goads 'no good' former boss for riding on Rodgers' coat-tail

Marian Shved has once again slammed former Celtic boss Neil Lennon, as the wide man looked back on his disastrous spell with the club.

The 25-year made the move to Parkhead in January 2019 from Ukranian side Karpaty Lviv, who he stayed with on loan for the remainder of the season. He was one of Brendan Rodgers' final signings as Celtic boss, before the Northern Irishman opted to take over the reigns at Leicester City in March 2019. Despite scoring on his Hoops debut in the Champions League qualifying round against Estonian outfit Nomme Kalju the following August, Shved failed to settle in Glasgow, and after just three appearances in two years he moved to K.V. Mechelen in Belgium.

The winger was able to revitalise his career whilst with in Belgian top flight, and some impressive performances in his two and a half years at Mechelen earned him a move back to his homeland with Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, where he netted a brace on his Champions League debut in the 4-1 group F victory over RB Leipzig.

Shved also faced his old side Celtic in the competition and played 60 minutes in the 1-1 draw with the Bhoys back in September. After picking up an injury on matchday three in the competition against Real Madrid last month, Shved has been out of action completely, and missed the chance to make his return to Parkhead in the return match against Celtic, which again finished 1-1 and ensured a 3rd place finish in Group F for Shakhtar and more European football in the new year.

Ahead of the pair's first meeting, Shved had some harsh words for his old manager Lennon, who he claimed broke a promise to him that he would be given regular game time at Celtic.

And now the 25-year old has had another swipe at the Irishmen and his coaching skills, whilst also recalling his brief encounter with Brendan Rodgers before he was loaned back to Karpaty Lviv. Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, he said: "Maybe he already knew he was going to Leicester and that is why he said this, but Rodgers never told me he was not going to use me. I think I had two weeks training with Rodgers and that was it. After that, Lennon came in but, in my opinion, he didn't do anything good for us because the first season the team played well on the methods of Rodgers.

"The second season showed Lennon's skills as a coach. We lost against Cluj in the qualifiers for the Champions League and, of course, the results are the responsibility of the coach. I don't think he trained us well. He was at the training every day but he did not control the process. Look, the team still played well. As for me? I didn't play and it's my problem. That was not the problem of the coach."
