Marian Shved has Celtic in his Champions League sights as he opens up on 'incredible' Euro victory

Marian Shved says the emotions of his second European goal for Shakhtar Donetsk were so high he can't even remember it, as he prepares to meet Celtic again.

The Ukrainian winger left Parkhead permanently last summer after just three senior appearances following a January 2019 arrival under Brendan Rodgers. His form in Mechelen won him a move back to his native Ukraine with Shakhtar Donetsk and he scored a debut brace in an outstanding 4-1 away win at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in Champions League Group F. Next up for him and his team-mates is the first of two matches against Celtic.

It will be a chance to prove his talent to any remaining doubters at the Hoops, who were defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid in the other game in the group. Shved says Shakhtar always believed in a memorable night in Germany: "It is an incredible day.

"I want to thank God for our chance. I think that such goals are scored not just by chance, but because of my work and belief in myself.

"We thank Ukraine for support, we deserved this victory! The plan was to fight for every ball, win challenges and demonstrate our play.

"To tell the truth, I don’t even remember (his second goal), there were so many emotions. I have already realised that we are going to win in the 90th minute, but everyone believed in victory throughout the entire game."
