Mariah Carey has been sued over her iconic Christmas single All I Want For Christmas Is You.
The songstress released the chart-topping hit in 1994 - but an artist has now claimed his song - by the same name - inspired hers.
She is being sued for copyright infringement, according to TMZ, by Andy Stone - who says he co-wrote and recorded a song with the same title a couple of years earlier.
Andy claims Mariah and her team never asked for permission to use that title.
He is going after the pop star for at least £16million in damages.
During the Christmas period last year, the track is said to have bagged the star a whopping £40million.
The festive single comes with a lot of heartbreak for Mariah - as it reflects on painful memories of her earlier years.
Speaking of her childhood, she said: "I always wanted Christmas to be perfect and I always looked forward to the holidays, but I had this incredibly dysfunctional family that would ruin it every year."
She says that in her younger days she would sometimes find only wrapped-up fruit under the tree. "I was like, ‘When I grow up, I am never going to let that happen. I am going to make Christmas perfect every year’."
The star added: "I have always had such an emotional connection to Christmas. It wasn’t about the gifts, but the hopefulness of the holiday season. I wanted to express that spirit and make a song that made me feel happy at the holidays.
"It was inspired by songs from the 50s and 60s, the ones that you just couldn’t help but be happy whenever you heard them. It means so much to me to be able to sing that song with people all over the world and to share experiences with people that have made this song part of their lives."
The Mirror has contacted Mariah's representative for a comment.
