Mariah Carey’s brother has made a new legal filing claiming she conspired with a fan to “destroy” his reputation.

Morgan Carey, 65, previously sued the singer, 56, in 2021 for what he claimed were false and defamatory statements that were made in her autobiography The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

The allegations printed in the 2020-released memoir ranged from him being abusive towards their mother, Patricia, when their violent father left home to conspiring with their mother to have the Fantasy hit-maker institutionalised with the aim of stealing her money.

Now, as per the MailOnline, Mr Carey filed a new amended lawsuit on March 21, including asking for $40million (£30 million) in damages and profits from the book, after 14 of the 16 claims in his original suit were dismissed and his appeal was denied in 2023.

As part of his latest legal bid, he is claiming that one of his sister's fans, who was under her "employment and control", created a deep-dive YouTube video to further "damage" his reputation.

According to the publication, the documents state, Mr Carey became aware of a YouTube video titled Morgan Carey: A Deep Dive Into Mariah Carey's Disturbing Older Brother, created by fan of his sibling named Lambily.

The video rehashes revelations detailed in her book.

Her sister Alison also took legal action against her for the tome, accusing her of intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Alison took issue with several allegations that Mariah included that she said were false. She pointed to one passage where the singer claimed her then 20-year-old sister gave her, then only 12, a Valium, tried to pimp her out and threw a cup of boiling hot tea on her causing third-degree burns. Alison said Mariah “also callously dismisses [her] as an ‘ex’ sister.”

Despite the initial filing being made in 2021, Alison died in August 2024 aged 63 before it could be resolved. Their mother Patricia Carey is said to have died on the same day aged 87.

The Standard has contacted a representative for Mariah Carey for comment.
