Mariah Carey has reached out to ex-husband Nick Cannon following the death of his baby son.
The comedian - who shares 10-year-old twins with his singer ex - announced the heartbreaking news that his son had passed away on Tuesday.
Speaking on The Nick Cannon Show, the star emotionally explained to viewers how Zen had died from a brain tumour over the weekend, aged just five-months-old.
It's been reported that since the tragic news became public knowledge, Mariah, 52, has "reached out to Nick in private" as he grieves the death of his youngest child.
Mariah and the comic tied the knot in 2008, after meeting on the set of one of the singer's music videos.
The former couple welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe into the world in April 2011 but sadly split in 2014.
According to HollywoodLife, the Hero singer has reached out to her ex-husband in recent days to "express her deepest and most sincere condolences for the loss of his son".
"She is not expected to say anything about it publicly and she will not discuss it if asked about it because Mariah prefers to keep these types of matters private," the sourced explained to the publication.
Despite the pair living separate lives for the last seven years, the former couple apparently co-parent their two children "wonderfully" and are happy with how they raise their kids together.
The source added that Nick plays "an active role" in Monroe and Moroccan's lives and Mariah knows he's a "good father".
"For the time that Zen was alive, Mariah knows that Nick gave that boy all of the love in the world because that is the kind of man he is when it comes to his kids," the insider continued.
Following her divorce in 2016, Mariah has never remarried or had any more children.
Nick meanwhile has welcomed five children into the world with three different women, one of which was the late Zen whom he shared with model Alyssa Scott.
On Tuesday, the TV star called his grieving ex the "strongest woman" in an emotional tribute.
During a moving segment on The Nick Cannon Show, the devastated father explained how his son's health had deteriorated after the Thanksgiving period.
After sharing the tragic news his baby had died from a brain tumour, the musician told viewers Alyssa was the "the strongest woman I've ever seen" as he painfully recalled what they had been through together.
"Zen's mom, Alyssa, was just the strongest woman I've ever seen," he told the cameras earlier this week.
"Never had an argument, never was angry. Was emotional when she needed to be, but always the best mom, and continues to be the best mom."
Nick has since gone on to thank fans and viewers for their support during the family's difficult time.
"I respect his mother Alyssa and everyone in our family," he stated on Wednesday's edition of The Nick Cannon Show.
