Mariah Carey hailed The Crown 'superfan' after wearing tiara as she binge-watched series

Mariah Carey got into the royal spirit and wore a diamanté tiara as she watched the series one and five of The Crown.

The singer, whose Christmas hit has already started echoing through shopping centres and on radio stations across the country, also celebrated one of her tracks making it into the show.

Her hit 1991 song, Emotions, played out in the new episodes which follow a young King Charles and Princess Diana.

Netflix ’s hit royal drama returned to screens on Wednesday, with new cast members.

Imelda Staunton plays the late Queen with Jonathan Pryce as the Duke of Edinburgh, while Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki play the then Prince and Princess of Wales, Charles and Diana.

“THE CROWN premiered last night and of course I had to have my own screening dahhlings!” Carey wrote on Twitter.

“Bonus fact: my song Emotions is in the first episode! ahhhh!! Thank you @netflix.”

Netflix tweeted: “Everyone knows how much @MariahCarey loves The Crown so we hooked up the ultimate superfan with a queen-calibre early screening of the Season 5 premiere inside of her home where she watched the first episode, which features her song Emotions!”

Along with her tiara, the All I Want for Christmas hitmaker added a pair of huge diamond earrings as she posed for the camera.

Mariah was joined on the sofa by her dogs and a cup of tea for the screening.

Her 11-year-old daughter Roe appeared to be unimpressed as she sat on another sofa.

It appeared that she was highly skilled at multitasking as she watched the new season on a huge projector, but was also streaming the first series on another television.

The new season debuted this week, and it has sparked a lot of controversy from friends of the royal family.

Season five will delve into the marriage breakdown of King Charles and Princess Diana, as well as her tragic death.

Queen Elizabeth II will now be played by Imelda Staunton, taking over from Olivia Coleman.

As well as Imelda, was joined by Dominic who is playing Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.

Many are thrilled that the show has made a return, but some have criticised the programme for it's ficticious storylines.

After friends of King Charles and royal experts hit out about the show, Netflix put a disclaimer on the front of every episode.

Dame Judy Dench called the show "cruel", especially after the Queen's passing in September this year.

It stated that the show is a "dramatization" that "tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign."
